Saudi Arabia IPv6 Task Force

RIPE NCC members (LIRs) and Direct Assignment Users can now request an IPv6 PI Address Space from the RIPE NCC.

PI Address Space (PI-addresses) offer the end-user the opportunity to change service providers without changing addresses, and in particular to use multiple service providers at once in a multi-homed configuration

RIPE NCC launched an IPv6 information portal “ IPv6 Act Now” www.IPv6ActNow.org . IPv6 Act Now is a one stop website that explains IPv6 in terms that everyone can understand and provides a variety of useful information aimed at promoting the global adoption of IPv6.

The website is for anyone with an interest in IPv6, including network engineers, company directors, law enforcement agencies, government representatives and civil society.

The website also includes contributions from other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and industry partners.

During the 6th IPv6 task force meeting (17th of May 2009), Mobily and Bayant announced that they are now connected to a Tier-1 IPv6 provider, and offer an IPv6 connectivity to its customers without any extra cost.

This announcement marks a major milestone on Saudi Arabia IPv6 strategy, by providing an IPv6 service by a facility based provider.

The 6th IPv6 task force meeting generously sponsored by Mobily, it will take place on the 17th of May, and it will be held in the Riyadh Four Seasons hotel, Paris meeting room from 8am - 1pm.

I am happy announce that KACST ISU has successfully deployed IPv6 on all internal offices, employees are now connected to both IPv4 and IPv6 (dual stack).

It is worth mentioning that KACST ISU was the first organization in Saudi Arabia to obtain IPv6 address and to connect to IPv6 network.
